I know what you did last summer
Dão is known for subtle, earthy reds and elegant whites. Rosés rarely take the stage, aged rosés even less so. This is a 2017 blend of Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz, Alfrocheiro and Jaen. Structured and full bodied yet it shows a freshness and an elegance that is a Dão trademark. I had something else open but this shiitake risotto was screaming for this exact rosé and the magic of wine happened.

It was love at first sip many years ago. Today it was the first of the year, to start with the right mood. 90% Nerello Mascalese, 10% Nerello Cappuccio planted at 700 m in the northern side of the (still active) Etna volcano. +100 year old pre-phylloxeric vines. Smells of forest floor. It is elegant, savoury and tense. Light and powerful at the same time. Vico has a unique ethereal energy capable of transporting us to the lava-ridden slopes of the mountain in the moment. A wine with a soul. A Sicilian treasure. 96/100 @tenutebosco @sofiaponzini
